Beginning Our First Activities of 2025

The Cheongdae Times Newspaper Hoseok An Editor-in-Chief 

The new year of 2025 has begun. The year 2024, which felt long for some, short for others, and meaningful to many, has come to a close. Now, with the start of 2025, the once barren fields with lifeless branches are beginning to bloom with vibrant and lively flowers.

This year marks my third year at The Cheong Dae Times, and I have now taken on the role of Editor-in-Chief, having started as a cub reporter. Stepping into this position, I feel a new sense of responsibility and tension that I had not experienced before. As the leader of Cheong Dae Times Cheongju University’s official English news outlet—I would like to briefly introduce our first activity of 2025 and share my aspirations as editor-in-chief.

First, there is an important change starting this year. Until 2024, Cheongju University had three student-run media outlets: the Broadcasting Station, the Cheong Dae Newspaper, and the Cheong Dae Times. Beginning in 2025, however, the Cheong Dae Newspaper and the Cheong Dae Times have merged into a single organization.

As a result, we will continue writing English articles as we always have, but from now on, we will also be publishing articles in Korean. This new bilingual approach will make our content more accessible to readers who found it difficult to read in English alone.

Moving forward, the Cheong Dae Times will focus not only on increasing our presence on campus but also on expanding the range of our articles. We aim to cover not just university-related topics but also events and issues in the local community of Cheongju City that are relevant to our students.

We have covered a wide range of topics in this issue. From exploring practical training spaces in the Department of Aviation Service, to highlighting great study spots during exam season, and introducing restaurants partnered with our university—we’ve tried to capture what really matters to our students. We also wrote about campus meals and gathered honest student feedback, uncovered lesser-known campus facilities, and shared experiences with international students.

With such a diverse and expansive selection of stories in Issue No. 238, I hope to represent the new direction of Cheong Dae Times with dedication. During my term as editor-in-chief, I will work closely with our talented team of reporters to create meaningful content for Cheongju University students.

2025년 첫 활동을 시작하며

청대타임즈신문사 국장 안호석

2025년 새해가 밝았습니다. 누군가에게는 길었고, 누군가에겐 짧았고, 누군가에겐 뜻깊은 한 해였던 2024년이 저물었습니다. 어느덧 2025년이 시작하고 벌써 생기가 없는 나뭇가지만 있던 들판이, 이제는 어느덧 화려하고 생기있는 꽃들이 피어나기 시작하고 있습니다. 저는 청대타임즈 수습기자로 시작하여 3년차가 되는 해에 청대타임즈 국장이라는 자리를 맡게되었습니다.

청대타임즈를 이끄는 자리인 만큼 이 자리에선 느껴보지 못 하였던 긴장감과 책임감이 뒤따라오는 기분이듭니다. 저는 청주대학교 대표 언론사인 만큼 책임감을 가지고 이끌어가겠다는 다짐을 말씀드리며 2025년 첫 활동에 대해 간략히 설명하고, 국장으로써 포부를 말씀드리겠습니다.

우선 첫 번째로 2025년 청대타임즈는 지금까지의 것과 달라진 부분이 있습니다. 2024년까지 청주대학교는 언론사는 총 3개로 방송국, 청대신문, 청대타임즈로 이루어져 왔습니다. 그러나 이번 2025년부터는 청대신문과 청대타임즈가 합쳐져서 하나의 조직으로 활동을 하게 되었습니다. 따라서 2025년부터 청대타임즈는 기존에 영어기사를 작성하는 활동도 유지하며, 추가로 한글기사도 함께 작성할 예정입니다. 영어 때문에 읽기 힘드셨던 분들을 위해 영어와 한글을 병행하여 볼 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 2025년 첫 활동을 시작하겠습니다.

또한 앞으로 청대타임즈는 학교내에서의 인지도를 포함하여 기사에 더 관심을 두기 위해 노력하겠습니다. 또한 기사의 범위를 조금 더 넓혀 청주대학교와 관련된 청주시에서의 일들에 대해 작성하겠습니다.

이번 호에는 우리 대학의 각종행사를 취재하였습니다. 항공서비스학과 학생들의 실무 역량을 키울 수 있는 공간을 취재해보았습니다. 또한 시험시즌에 우리대학에서 공부할 수 있는 장소들과 청주대학교와 제휴를 맺은 가게들을 소개하였습니다. 우리 대학 학우들이 먹는 학식에 대해 소개하여 학생들의 피드백을 받아보는 기사를 작성하였습니다. 학생들의 숨겨진 시설들에 대해서도 취재해보고, 외국인 유학생들과 함께하는 이야기를 취재하여 기사를 작성해 보았습니다.

이번 238호 기사에는 너무나도 다양하고 넓은 범위에 있어서 취재를 해보았습니다. 올해 한해 청대타임즈의 변화에 대표하여 나아갈 수 있도록 국장으로써 열심히 노력하는 모습을 보여드리겠습니다. 임기기간 청대타임즈 기자분들과 함께 청주대학교 학생들을 위한 기사를 작성해 보겠습니다. 많은 관심 부탁드립니다. 여러분 2025년 새해 복 많이 받으시고 힘찬 한해가 되었으면 좋겠습니다. 감사합니다.
