Preparing for Midterm Exams: Study Spots Recommended

The 2025 midterm exams are just around the corner. To get good grades on their exams, many students are looking for good places to study, such as the library or nearby cafés, depending on their own study style.

When I first entered Cheongju University last year as a freshman, I did not know much about the facilities inside all the buildings on campus. So, I thought the central library was the only place where I could study. Because of that, I often went to the library or studied in cafés near the school when I wanted a more relaxed atmosphere.

However, I realized that there were actually many good places to study throughout the campus as I walked around different college buildings to attend both major and general education classes. As the exam period came closer, I remembered how I did not know much about the school facilities last year.

So, in this article, I would like to introduce good places to study inside Cheongju University and cozy cafés near the school that have a nice atmosphere for studying. I hope this article helps students who have had trouble finding good places to study, especially those who are new to the school.

Through this article, which includes the real experiences of current students, I hope that many students can find study places that suit them. I also hope they can create a more enjoyable and effective study environment.

The following is an interview with Jusia, a sophomore student majoring in Airline Service.

Q. Is there a good place to study inside Cheongju University? How did you find that place, and why do you recommend it?

A. I want to recommend the reading room on the 3rd floor of the Central Library.

When I first visited the Central Library to look around for a place to study, I wasn’t sure which spot would be best. While exploring the different areas in the library, one of my friends recommended the reading room on the third floor. That’s how I came to use that space. This place is very quiet and surrounded by many books, which helps me focus naturally.

Also, when I see other students studying hard around me, I feel motivated to study harder too. I usually use various study tools as books, a laptop, and a tablet when I study. The desks in this room are wide, so it is very convenient for students like me who use different study tools.

For these reasons, I still use the 3rd floor reading room of the Central Library often. I highly recommend it as the best place to focus on studying.

Q. If there is a good place to study at Cheongju University, could you tell us how you found it and why you recommend it?

A. I would like to recommend Café C at Dongbuchanggo.

I visited this café several times when I was working on group projects or team assignments, and I felt that it was a really good place.

This café has a large and clean inside space, so even when many people gather together, they can talk and work without any discomfort. The space between the tables is wide, so we could have conversations without worrying about other people around us. It is also close to the school, so it was easy to meet with group members.

Also, the area around the café is a cultural space, so I could take a walk or rest for a while. I strongly recommend this place because it is more than just a café; it is a space where you can study, work on team projects, and take a break all in one place.

Q. If there is anything you think should be improved about the study spaces at Cheongju University, please feel free to share your thoughts.

A. I hope the environment in the reading room of the Central Library becomes quieter and more pleasant.

The reading room is originally a place to study quietly, but while studying, there are moments when I need to move my chair to change my posture or take a short break. At those times, because the height of the chair and desk do not match well, they bump into each other and make unexpected noise, and in a quiet space, that sound feels quite loud.

Also, the sound made when opening and closing the door is quite loud, which often disturbs the quiet atmosphere of the reading room.

If these issues are improved, I believe that a true learning space where students can concentrate without distractions will be created. I also hope more students use reading rooms in the library, not just the 3rd floor.

The following is an interview with Hwang Juwon, a sophomore majoring in Media and Communication.

Q. If there is a good place to study at Cheongju University, could you tell us how you found it and why you recommend it?

A. I would like to recommend the reading room seats in the reference room on the 4th floor of the Central Library.

Since I usually have trouble concentrating in crowded and noisy environments, I started looking for places that are quiet and comfortable. That’s how I discovered this reading room.

The reading room on the 4th floor of the Central Library is quieter and less crowded than other floors or rooms, creating a calm atmosphere for studying. It's especially effective when I need to focus on assignments or study for exams alone, so I often use it.

I highly recommend this place to students who want to focus on their studies in a quiet environment.

Q. Is there a good café near Cheongju University where you like to study or that has a nice atmosphere? If so, could you tell me how you found out about the café and why you recommend it?

A. I want to recommend Twosome Place in front of the school’s main gate.

It is located right in front of the university’s main gate, so it is very accessible, and since the building has high ceilings, it feels open and spacious, which makes long study sessions feel less stuffy. Especially on the second floor, there are seats arranged like a study room, which makes it a great place to focus on studying or doing assignments. This kind of setup is rare in regular cafés, so I think it’s very appealing to students who are looking for a study room-like environment. When I feel tired while studying, I can recharge with a slice of cake or a drink from Twosome, which helps me refresh and feel a small sense of happiness even while studying. With its clean interior, well-separated study-friendly spaces, and delicious desserts, I would strongly recommend this café as a study spot.

Q. If there is anything you think should be improved about the study spaces at Cheongju University, please feel free to share your thoughts.

A. A: The armrests on the chairs in the reading room on the first floor of the library do not fit under the desks, which often causes inconvenience when using them. when I move or adjust my chair, When I try to move or adjust my seat, the armrests hit the desk and make noise, which makes me worried that it might disturb other students who are studying quietly nearby.

That worry tends to stay in my mind while studying, and I often find myself focusing on the chair’s armrests instead of the task, which makes it hard to concentrate.

Not only I, but also many of my friends prefer the reading room on the fourth floor for the same reason, as it does not have this kind of inconvenience.

Although it is a small detail, I think that if this issue is improved even just a little, more students will be able to use the reading rooms more comfortably.

This article introduced various study spaces recommended by students of Cheongju University.

From the quiet reading rooms in the library to cozy cafes where students can both study and relax, there are a variety of spaces in and around campus that suit different study preferences.

In particular, the Central Library is one of the most widely used study spaces by Cheongju University students. Thanks to its quiet and stable atmosphere, spacious desks, and access to various resources, many students can study with deep focus there.

However, the concerns about noise in the reading rooms and the structure of the seating, as mentioned by students in the interviews, come from their real study experiences. For this reason, we hope the university listens closely and works to improve the study spaces to make them more comfortable and practical.

If the original strengths of the Central Library are further enhanced and students’ feedback is reflected in shaping an even better learning environment, many more students will be able to enjoy a more pleasant and effective study experience in a space that suits them.

어느덧 2025년도 중간고사가 코앞으로 다가왔다. 중간고사에서 좋은 성적을 거두기 위해, 많은 학생들이 각자의 공부 스타일에 따라 도서관이나 카페 등 다양한 공간을 찾아 공부하고 있다.

작년에 신입생으로 청주대학교에 입학했을 때는, 학교 전체 건물 안 시설에 대한 정보가 많지 않아서 중앙도서관 말고는 공부할 수 있는 공간이 없는 줄 알았다. 그래서 자연스레 도서관을 이용하거나, 조금 더 편안한 분위기를 원할 때는 학교 주변 카페에서 공부하곤 했다.

하지만 전공과 교양 수업을 듣기 위해 다양한 단과대학 건물을 다니다 보니, 생각보다 학교 곳곳에 공부하기 좋은 공간들이 많다는 것을 알게 되었다. 시험 기간이 다가오면서, 학교에 대해 잘 몰랐던 작년의 내 모습이 떠올랐다.

그래서 이번 기사에서는 나처럼 처음엔 공간 활용에 어려움을 겪었던 학생들, 특히 새내기들을 위해 청주대학교 재학생들이 직접 추천하는 공부하기 좋은 학교 내 공간들과, 주변의 분위기 좋은 카페들을 소개하려 한다.

재학생들의 생생한 경험담이 담긴 이 기사를 통해 더 많은 학생들이 자신에게 맞는 공부 장소를 찾아, 보다 즐겁고 효율적인 학습 환경을 조성하길 바란다.

A. 저는 중앙도서관 3층 자료실 열람석을 추천하고 싶습니다.

처음 중앙도서관에 방문해 공부할 수 있는 공간을 찾아보던 중, 친구의 추천으로 3층 자료실 열람석을 알게 되었습니다. 이곳은 조용한 분위기 속에서 다양한 책들로 둘러싸여 있어 자연스럽게 집중할 수 있는 환경을 만들어 줍니다.

또한, 주변에서 다른 학우분들이 열심히 공부하시는 모습을 보면 저도 자극을 받아 더욱 의욕적으로 공부에 임하게 됩니다. 저는 평소 책, 노트북, 태블릿 등 다양한 학습 도구를 함께 사용하는데, 이 열람석은 책상이 넓어 저처럼 여러 도구를 사용하는 학생들에게 특히 편리하다고 느껴집니다.

이러한 이유들로 저는 지금도 중앙도서관 3층 자료실 열람석을 자주 이용하며, 공부에 몰입할 수 있는 제 최적의 공간으로 추천드립니다.

A. 저는 동부창고 카페C를 추천하고 싶습니다.

조별 과제나 팀플을 할 때 여러 번 방문하면서 정말 좋은 공간이라는 걸 느꼈습니다.

이 카페는 내부가 넓고 쾌적해서 여럿이 모여도 불편함 없이 대화하고 작업할 수 있는 환경이에요. 테이블 간 간격도 넉넉해서 주변 눈치 보지 않고 대화를 나눌 수 있었습니다. 학교에서 가까워 조원분들과 만나기에도 편했습니다.

무엇보다 청주대학교랑 가까워서 조원들과 만나기도 편하고, 주변이 문화공간으로 조성돼 있어 잠깐 산책하거나 쉬기도 좋았습니다. 단순한 카페를 넘어서 공부와 팀 작업, 휴식을 모두 할 수 있는 공간이라 강력히 추천합니다.

Q. 청주대학교 내 공부할 수 있는 공간과 관련하여 개선되었으면 하는 부분이 있다면 자유롭게 말씀해주세요.

A. 저는 도서관 열람실의 환경이 조금 더 조용하고 쾌적해졌으면 개선되었으면 좋겠습니다. 열람실은 본래 조용히 공부하는 공간인데, 공부를 하다 보면 자세를 바꾸거나 잠깐 쉬기 위해 의자를 움직이게 되는 순간이 종종 생기잖아요. 그럴 때 의자와 책상의 높이가 잘 맞지 않다 보니, 두 개가 부딪히며 예상치 못한 소음이 나고, 그 소리가 조용한 공간에서는 꽤 크게 느껴집니다.

또한, 출입문을 열고 닫을 때 나는 소리도 꽤 크기 때문에 열람실 전체의 정숙한 분위기를 해치는 경우가 많습니다.

이러한 점들이 개선된다면, 학생들이 방해받지 않고 몰입할 수 있는 진정한 학습 공간이 마련될 수 있을 것이라고 생각합니다. 현재 많은 학생들이 이용하는 3층 자료실 외에도 열람실이 보다 활발히 활용될 수 있으리라 기대합니다.

A: 저는 도서관 4층 자료실 열람석을 추천드리고 싶습니다. 저는 원래 사람이 많고 소란스러운 환경에서는 집중하기 어려운 편이라, 조용하고 쾌적한 공간을 찾아다니게 되었는데요. 그렇게 찾은 곳이 바로 이 열람석입니다.

도서관 4층 자료실은 다른 층이나 열람실보다 상대적으로 조용하고 이용자가 많지 않아서 차분하게 공부할 수 있는 분위기가 조성되어 있어요. 혼자 집중해서 과제나 시험 공부를 할 때 특히 효과적인 공간이라 자주 이용하게 되었습니다.

조용한 환경에서 학업에 몰입하고 싶은 학생들에게 꼭 추천하고 싶은 장소입니다.

학교 정문 바로 앞에 위치해 있어 접근성이 뛰어나고, 건물의 층고가 높아 시야가 확 트인 느낌이라 장시간 공부하더라도 답답하지 않은 점이 가장 큰 장점이에요.

특히 2층에는 독서실 같은 좌석이 마련되어 있어 집중해서 공부하거나 과제를 하기에 정말 좋습니다. 이는 일반적인 카페에서는 보기 드문 구성이라, 독서실과 같은 환경을 원하는 학생들에게는 큰 매력으로 다가오는 것 같아요.

공부하다가 집중력이 떨어질 때는 투썸의 조각케이크나 음료로 당을 충전하면서 기분 전환을 할 수 있어, 공부하면서도 소소한 행복을 느낄 수 있어요.

깔끔한 매장 분위기와 공부하기에 좋은 분리된 공간 구성, 그리고 맛있는 디저트까지 갖춰져 있어 공부 장소로 적극 추천드리고 싶습니다.

A. 도서관 1층 열람실 의자의 팔받침대가 책상 아래로 들어가지 않아 사용 시 불편함을 느끼는 경우가 많습니다.

자리를 옮기거나 정리할 때 팔걸이가 책상에 부딪히며 소음이 발생하는데, 이 때문에 주변에서 조용히 공부하시는 분들께 방해가 되지 않을까 걱정이 됩니다.

특히 그 걱정이 계속 마음에 남아 있어 공부하는 내내 신경이 의자 팔걸이 쪽으로 쏠리다 보니 집중이 잘 되지 않는 경우도 많습니다.

저뿐만 아니라 주변 친구들도 같은 이유로, 이와 같은 불편함이 없는 4층 자료실 열람석을 더 선호하는 경우가 많았습니다.

작은 부분이지만, 이 부분이 조금만 개선된다면 더 많은 학생들이 열람실을 보다 편리하게 이용할 수 있을 것이라 생각합니다.

이번 기사를 통해 청주대학교 재학생들이 추천하는 다양한 학습 공간을 살펴보았다.

도서관의 정숙한 열람석부터 과제와 휴식을 겸할 수 있는 분위기 좋은 카페까지, 각자의 학습 성향에 따라 활용할 수 있는 공간들이 캠퍼스 안팎에 다양하게 존재한다.

특히 중앙도서관은 청주대학교 학생들에게 가장 널리 이용되는 대표적인 학습 공간으로, 조용하고 안정적인 분위기와 넓은 책상, 다양한 자료를 갖춘 환경 덕분에 많은 학생들이 몰입도 높은 학습을 이어가고 있다.

다만 학생들이 인터뷰를 통해 전한 열람실 소음 문제나 좌석 구조에 대한 아쉬움 역시 실제 학습 경험에서 비롯된 의견인 만큼, 학교 차원에서 귀 기울여 보다 쾌적하고 실용적인 공간으로 발전해 나가기를 기대한다.

중앙도서관이 지닌 본래의 장점이 더 빛을 발하고, 학생들의 목소리가 반영되어 더욱 완성도 높은 학습 환경이 조성된다면, 앞으로도 많은 학생들이 자신에게 맞는 공간에서 보다 즐겁고 효율적인 학습 경험을 이어갈 수 있을 것이다.
