Hidden Facilities for Students at Our University

Our university provides a good environment for students to study through various campus facilities that encompass their studies and rest, increasing their satisfaction.

Several buildings on campus, including the library, are equipped with study rooms and learning spaces that are freely accessible to students. These facilities can be used for various purposes, such as group projects and exam preparation, contributing to a high level of student satisfaction.

The group study rooms are ideal spaces for group projects, exam preparation, and presentation practice. They are available through advance reservation and are equipped with whiteboards, TV monitors, and laptop connection ports, all of which help enhance academic efficiency. There is also a space for students to learn and communicate freely in the lobby of each floor, such as the College of Humanities and the College of Business.

Koo Eun-hye, a student from the Department of Sports and Leisure Studies who used the library’s group study room and reading room, said, “I liked that there were partitioned desks and power outlets available. However, it would be nice if there were more seating areas where students could simply sit and rest. There is a space like that in the first-floor lobby of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, but it's inconvenient that some buildings near the College of Arts don’t have such areas,” she said, expressing her disappointment.

The library’s open reading rooms and individual seating areas are popular among students who wish to focus in a quiet environment. These spaces are equipped with detailed amenities such as power outlets, lighting, and partitions for added convenience. In a corner of the first floor of the library, there are lockers where students can safely store their belongings and move freely. These lockers are highly praised for being useful, as they allow students to securely leave their laptop bags and personal items while using the library for extended periods.

On the second floor of the central library, there is a cinema room and a multimedia viewing room. The cinema room, with 54 seats, is equipped with sound systems similar to those of a movie theater and regularly screens films every week. The cinema room is also available for rental purposes, such as for seminars and video-related classes. Students can use the space to watch movies, practice presentations, or conduct other activities. Thanks to its comfortable environment and high-definition screen, the cinema room is also being effectively used outside of class hours.

When asked if she had ever used the cinema room or multimedia room, Lee Ji-hyun, a student from the Department of English Language and Literature, responded, “Unfortunately, I haven't used either of them. I’ve seen movie posters on the library elevator, so I knew about the cinema room, but I don’t think I ever thought about using it. I think some students like me live without knowing the various facilities around the school, but through this opportunity, I’ve learned about some of the great facilities here at the university. Since these spaces are for students, I hope many people can make the most of the opportunity to use them effectively.”

The multimedia viewing room is a digital information space that can be used for watching videos, music, animation, dramas, and more. It is equipped with privacy screens and offers individual, two-person, and three-person seating options. Students can use this space to watch movies or explore lecture materials and other resources needed for their studies. For students using the space, the desk also offers rentals of headsets and remote controls.

Kang Min-ju, a student from the Department of Economics and Trade who works at the multimedia viewing room, said, “While there are some students who visit frequently, it seems that the room is not as well-known as the reading rooms or group study rooms. I often come here during my free time and find the space comfortable and the facilities useful, so I think it would be great if more students came and used it regularly.”

The library also features a café space for students who are tired from their studies. The café inside the library is a space where students can enjoy coffee and drinks while reading books or communicating with friends. It is often referred to as a “healing zone on campus” among students. There is an atmosphere where you can study or communicate with friends while enjoying simple drinks and snacks.

Maintaining both physical and mental health is essential for focusing on academics. Cheongju University’s Health Center operates on weekdays and offers services such as first aid, temperature checks, blood pressure measurements, and the provision of basic medications to students. Recently, the psychological counseling program has been expanded, strengthening the support for mental health as well.

The new College of Engineering building, completed in early 2025, is one of the most notable new facilities on the Cheongju University campus. Designed for the students of the College of Engineering, who engage in numerous experiments and practical sessions due to the nature of their major, this building is praised as a state-of-the-art lecture and practice complex that combines both functionality and design.

In particular, the addition of a HyFlex classroom inside the new building has attracted attention. The HyFlex classroom is a cutting-edge learning space that allows both in-person and online lectures to be conducted simultaneously. It is equipped with ICT technologies such as AI cameras, an automated sound system, and multi-screen displays, enabling students to participate in classes flexibly. Such spaces are highly useful not only for science and engineering courses but also for presentations and team projects.

The recent improvements and expansion of campus facilities go beyond mere infrastructure changes; they reflect a broader vision of creating a student-centered educational environment. Our university will continue to make practical improvements to facilities and innovate spaces, ensuring that students can experience a balanced academic and personal life in an even better environment.

우리 대학의 학생들을 위한 숨겨진 시설들

우리 대학교가 학생들의 학업과 휴식을 아우르는 다양한 캠퍼스 시설을 통해 공부하기 좋은 환경을 제공하며 학생들의 만족도를 높이고 있다.

도서관을 비롯한 여러 학내 건물에는 자유롭게 사용할 수 있는 스터디룸과 학습공간이 마련되어 있다. 조별 과제, 시험 공부 등 다양한 목적에 따라 이용할 수 있어 학생들의 만족도가 높다.

그룹 스터디룸은 조별 과제나 시험 대비, 프레젠테이션 연습을 위한 최적의 장소로, 사전 예약을 통해 이용할 수 있다. 또한 화이트보드와 TV 모니터, 노트북 연결 포트가 비치되어 있어 학업 효율을 높여준다. 인사대와 경상대 등 층별 로비에는 학생들이 자유롭게 학습하며 소통할 수 있는 공간도 마련 되어 있다.

도서관 그룹 스터디룸과 열람실을 이용한 생활체육학과 구은혜 학생은 “칸막이 책상이 있고 콘센트가 있다는 점이 좋았던 것 같다. 하지만 학생들이 앉아서 쉴 수 있는 공간을 조금 더 늘려주면 좋겠다. 인문사회대학 1층 로비에도 그런 공간이 있긴 하지만 예대 쪽에는 이러한 공간들이 없는 건물도 있다는 점이 불편한 것 같다”라며 아쉬움을 표했다.

도서관 자유 열람실과 1인 좌석 공간은 조용한 분위기에서 집중하고 싶은 학생들에게 인기다. 전원 콘센트, 조명, 칸막이 등 디테일한 편의시설이 마련되어 있다. 도서관 1층 한구석에는 도서관 물품 보관함이 위치하고 있어 학생들이 짐을 안전하게 보관하고 자유롭게 이동할 수 있다. 장시간 도서관 이용 시 노트북 가방, 개인 물품 등을 안전하게 맡길 수 있어 매우 유용하다는 평을 받고 있다.

중앙 도서관 2층에는 시네마룸과 멀티미디어감상실이 위치하고 있다. 시네마룸은 54석으로 영화관과 같은 음향시설을 갖추고, 매주 정기적으로 영화 상영을 하고 있다. 그리고 세미나, 영상관련 수업 등의 용도로 대관도 할 수 있다. 학생들은 여기서 영화를 관람하거나 프레젠테이션, 발표 연습 등을 하며 이용할 수 있다. 쾌적한 환경과 고화질 스크린 덕분에 수업 외 시간에도 알차게 활용되고 있다.

도서관을 이용중인 영어영문학과 이지현 학생은 시네마룸, 멀티미디어실을 이용해본적 있나요? 라는 질문에 “아쉽게도 두 곳 다 이용 경험이 없어요. 도서관 엘리베이터에 영화 포스터가 붙어있는 걸 본 적 있어서 시네마룸의 존재는 알고 있었지만 이용해봐야겠다는 생각은 못했던 것 같아요. 아마 저처럼 학교 곳곳의 다양한 시설들을 잘 모른 채 생활하고 있는 학생들도 있을 것 같은데, 이번 기회에 학교 내에 좋은 시설들에 대해 알게 된 것 같습니다. 학생들을 위한 공간인 만큼 많은 분들이 알차게 사용할 수 있는 기회가 됐으면 좋겠다”라며 답하였다.

멀티미디어 감상실은 영상, 음악, 애니메이션, 드라마 등을 감상을 할 수 있는 디지털정보 복합활용 공간으로 1인용, 2인용, 3인용으로 개인 프라이버시 보호막이 설치되어 있다. 학생들은 이곳에서 영화를 관람하거나 학습에 필요한 강의자료 등을 찾아보며 학습할 수 있다. 이용하는 학생들을 위해 데스크에서 헤드셋과 리모컨도 대여해 주고 있다.

멀티미디어 감상실에서 근로하는 경제 통상학과 강민주 학생은 “자주 찾아오는 학생들도 있지만 열람실이나 그룹 스터디룸 보다는 많이 알려지지 않은 거 같아요. 저는 공강 시간에 자주 찾아와 이용 중인데 공간도 편하고 시설도 유용하기 때문에 학생들이 자주 찾아오셔서 사용하면 좋을 거 같다”라며 답하였다.

도서관 내에는 학업에 지친 학생들을 위해 카페 공간 또한 마련되어 있다. 도서관 내 카페는 커피와 음료를 즐기며 책을 읽거나 친구들과 소통할 수 있는 공간으로, 학생들 사이에서 ‘캠퍼스 속 힐링존’으로 불리기도 한다. 간단한 음료와 스낵을 즐기며 공부하거나 친구들과 소통할 수 있는 분위기가 조성되어 있다.

학업에 집중하기 위해선 몸과 마음의 건강도 필수다. 청주대학교 보건실은 평일 운영되고 있으며, 학생들에게 응급처치, 체온 측정, 혈압 체크, 기본적인 의약품 제공 등의 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 최근에는 심리 상담 프로그램도 확대되어, 정신건강에 대한 지원 역시 강화되고 있다.

2025년 초에 완공된 공과대학 신관은 청주대학교 캠퍼스 내에서도 가장 주목받는 새로운 시설이다. 전공 특성상 실험과 실습이 많은 공과대학 학생들을 위해 설계된 이 건물은, 기능성과 디자인을 동시에 갖춘 최신식 강의·실습 복합 공간으로 평가받고 있다.

특히 신관 내부에는 하이플렉스 강의실이 추가로 조성되어 눈길을 끌고 있다. 하이플렉스 강의실은 대면과 비대면 강의를 동시에 진행할 수 있는 최첨단 수업 공간으로, AI 카메라, 전자동 음향 시스템, 다면 스크린 등 ICT 기술이 적용돼 학생들이 유연하게 수업에 참여할 수 있다. 이와 같은 공간은 특히 이공계열 수업뿐 아니라, 발표나 팀 프로젝트를 위한 활용도도 높다.

이번 학교 시설 개선과 공간 확장은 단순한 인프라의 변화를 넘어, 학생 중심 교육환경 조성이라는 큰 방향성을 담고 있다. 우리 대학교는 앞으로도 학생들이 더 나은 환경에서 학업과 삶을 균형 있게 경험할 수 있도록, 실질적인 시설 개선과 공간 혁신을 이어나갈 예정이다.
